We don't just talk about reconciliation. We live it, every single day.
Indigenous Traditions and Culture Policy

At Oaks Rail & Civil, we recognise and respect the traditions, cultures, and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the unique connection to country, culture, and family, and we commit to ensuring that cultural values are upheld in all aspects of our operations.

To support this, we apply the following principles across our business:
-
We build trust and respect in all relationships.
-
We respect human and property rights, and safeguard sites of cultural, historical, or spiritual significance.
-
We adopt a clear and transparent approach to negotiations with landholders.
-
We conduct ourselves in ways that recognise and respect cultural customs and practices.
-
We strive to create opportunities for Aboriginal enterprise, employment, and career development.
-
We monitor and respond to Indigenous affairs and policies to remain accountable and up to date.
-
We provide cultural awareness training to ensure our people understand the importance of culture in their work.

This policy underpins our approach to reconciliation and forms an integral part of how Oaks Rail & Civil delivers safe, inclusive, and sustainable rail and civil infrastructure.

As a majority Aboriginal-owned company, reconciliation is at the heart of everything we do. We create real opportunities through:
Employment pathways for Aboriginal people in construction.
Training and apprenticeships to build long-term careers.
Partnerships with Aboriginal businesses to strengthen supply chains.
Community investment that uplifts culture and connection.
We are proud to work with clients who share our vision for a reconciled and inclusive Australia.

Our logo features a Goanna, a symbol of strength, resilience, and connection to our countries. The design brings together two stories: the green, white, and orange of the Irish flag, representing Mike’s heritage, and the red, black, and yellow of the Aboriginal flag, symbolising Jarrad’s culture and community. These colours unite to reflect the essence of Oaks Rail and Civil: a partnership built on respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to building strong foundations for the future.

Mike and Jarrad's paths crossed through construction, but what brought them together was a belief that rail and civil projects can do more than deliver infrastructure - they can deliver opportunity. Mike’s international experience and drive, combined with Jarrad’s cultural leadership and commitment to reconciliation, have shaped a company that values both people and performance.

Together, they’re proving that when different worlds unite, you can build stronger communities, stronger teams, and stronger futures.
